Marine Litter has become a big environmental issue in tourism industry and have big effect to the global environment. Marine litter caused by any manufactured material such as cigarette filters, fishing line, fast-food packaging, disposable diapers, tampon applicators, six-pack holders, bottles, cans, syringes, and tires. Litter collecting on our beaches detracts from the aesthetic beauty of a waterfront landscape and negatively affects tourism. All marine litter caused by tourists activity. They produce waste, and if waste is not handled appropriately it will, in all likelihood, become litter. Marine litter originates primarily from two distinct sources, the sea and the land.
So, it is very easy to cause marine litter if tourists don’t pay attention on it. I think the tourists only focus on their enjoyment but not the environment. They think they pay money to the place for relaxing, so they think protect the environment is someone else’s job, but not their responsibility. The reason that I choose marine litter pollution is that marine litter is an environmental, economic, health and aesthetic problem affecting all regions around the world; the issue has been ignored by tourists, and this kind of problem has become popular and more serious. My suggestion is that government should have a standard of certification. Also, government should make the tourists recognize that tourist destination as their home which needed protect by them. More importantly, government should force stakeholders increase profit margins by giving the environment intrinsic value.
The topic that I choose for this blog is the beach pollution impacts the tourism and the global environment. Beach pollution has become a serious environmental issue that effect the sea sight resorts destinations and beaches. I am focusing on pollutions on beach such as solid waste, littering pollution(marine litter and garbage littering ), and sewage, stormwater pollution on beaches. I will use some destinations all over the world as examples to support my findings.
